Meet Sary & Isa
Our journey together is rooted in the belief that art has the power to connect us, despite the differences in our backgrounds.
We come from distinct parts of the world – Germany, Canada, Lebanon, Syria – and view the world’s vulnerabilities through different lenses.
Yet, it is this contrast that fuels our creativity. Together, we navigate the complexities of life, reflecting on the fragility of the world around us and we aim to share these insights through our art.
Mission

Isa
Isa is really concerned about the current state of the world, especially the growing right-wing movements in Germany and beyond. Growing up, her perspective was more one-sided, but meeting Sary helped her see how complex things really are. While Sary’s knowledge (editors note from Isa: hopefully) helps her understand these global issues better, Isa tends to respond with a philosophical approach, trying to make sense of it all.
In her professional life, Isa is passionate about fighting for global justice, particularly advocating for living income and living wage. Her mental health challenges and chronic pain also guide her work and how she sees the world. Through her art, Isa aims to express these values, creating a space to connect and inspire others.

Them
Isa and Sary share a warm, loving and humorous marriage that helps them navigate both the good and the challenging times. Isa loves cooking, and although Sary can cook too, it's Isa who usually takes the lead in the kitchen. Isa enjoys relaxing baths, but Sary finds them "too risky", preferring other ways to unwind. Smoking is Sary's relaxing habit.
The two of them share their home with two cats, the "little guys," who are mostly adored by Sary. Jakob, a close friend, often joins them and helps (rules) with the garden, where he's known to be the best gardener. Sary and Isa sleep under weighted blankets, a comfort for both. Isa tends to be often exhausted, needing rest or spending time with friends, while Sary is typically busy in the workshop. Together, they create a space where love, laughter and support carry them through life's ups and downs, providing each other with strength and connection in difficult times.
